A full time post at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital, London was commenced following professional certification and this post was held in a part time capacity until December 2015. The RNOH is a national centre of excellence benefiting from a team of highly specialist consultants, particularly in the fields of complex foot/ankle conditions; spinal deformity; spinal cord injury; brachial plexus injury and traumatic limb reconstruction. As a long serving Orthotist at this hospital Martin has gained extensive knowledge in a breadth of orthopaedic and neuromuscular conditions.
Since 2004 Martin has been at the forefront of brachial plexus management; modernizing the techniques and orthoses used to treat this condition. These developments have been presented locally and internationally and reported in professional literature.
Martin commenced private practice in 2007 and have provided consultant services at numerous private hospitals in London whilst also conducting a specialist spinal injury consultation service for the North West London NHS trust. Working for 6 years with The Wellington Hospital was a particular highlight due to the opportunity to deliver orthotic care within the largest private neuro-rehabilitation facility in the UK. Client groups were primarily stroke victims and traumatic brain injury who required extensive physiotherapy and gait re-education. This exemplary service also exposed Martin to cutting edge assistive technology equipment, including the Lokomat and Armeo systems.
Medico legal Experience:
In 2008 Martin joined the team at Pace Rehabilitation in order to provide a consultant Orthotic service centred on Expert Witness practice. Since that time Martin has conducted in the region of 400 cases with an approximate Claimant 50%:Defendant 40%: Joint 10% split and has completed the Cardiff University Expert Witness Certificate through Bond Solon.
