Career: Dr Sedki qualified as a doctor in 1997 and trained in Orthopaedic Surgery from 1997 till 2006, obtaining a master degree in Orthopaedics from Dundee University in 2002. He had further training in Rehabilitation Medicine at the North London training program and was then appointed as an NHS Consultant in Rehabilitation Medicine in 2010 at The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital/Stanmore, and The Luton and Dunstable Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. He also joined the Wellington Hospital in 2014 where he treats patients privately. He published several key papers in peer-reviewed journals including the first study to develop prescribing guidelines for microprocessor controlled prosthetic knee joints (MPKs). Dr Sedki then chaired a working group to develop a national policy for prescribing MPKs in England.
Dr Sedki is the convenor of the annual Advanced Amputee Rehabilitation Course organised by the BSRM, and teaches at the FRCS Orth course held twice annually. He has a special interest in the management of phantom limb pain, congenital limb deficiencies and the complex needs of highly active amputees.
Memberships: General Medical Council, British Society of Rehabilitation Medicine, Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh, The International Society for Prosthetics and Orthotics.
