Career: After completion of his Bachalorate (A-Levels) in Afghanistan, Hakim with his family moved to Pakistan where he completed his degree course in prosthetics and orthotics.
Following his graduation, he returned to Afghanistan where he worked as a clinical prosthetist/orthotist for over 3 years.
During 2001, Hakim joined the NHS prosthetic team at the Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital in Stanmore where he has provided technical and clinical support to a diverse and often challenging case load of prosthetic patients working within a well established multi-disciplinary team. Hakim joined the clinical team at Pace Rehabilitation in Amersham during December 2020 from Stanmore.
Qualifications:
Hakim is a Health & Care Professions Council (HCPC) Registered Prosthetist/Orthotist who graduated from PIPOS University of Peshawar during 1995 with a BSc in Prosthetics/Orthotics.
Certifications & clinical experience with:
- Ottobock – Genium, Genium X3, C-Leg & Kenevo microprocessor controlled knees, Harmony socket system and upper limb Myoelectric controlled systems
- Ossur – Rheo microprocessor controlled knee and a full range of products
- Endolite – Orion microprocessor controlled knee and a full range of products
- Proteor- Plie microprocessor controlled knee
Recent activities:
Hakim has considerable experience with advanced prosthetic designs for both upper and lower limb amputees including a range of high activity sporting prostheses and more conventional designs.
Hakim has considerable experience working with military injured personal whose care following their service was transferred to Stanmore, a specialist centre providing continual support to veterans. Dedicated funding for this group of amputees allows the opportunity for more advanced prosthetic designs to be provided.
In addition to his work, Hakim has keen interest in sport in particular in volleyball and snooker.
