Over 300 athletes from 47 countries are now confirmed to be competing across four sports at the VISA Paralympic World Cup in Manchester during May.

Many of the world’s top Paralympians have confirmed their participation in the Games which are to be staged across three of the city’s sporting venues in Manchester between 7th – 13th May.

Now in its third year, the week long competition will see events hosted at the Manchester Velodrome, The Aquatics Centre and the Manchester Regional Arena.

Athletes will be competing in Track and Field, Cycling (track), Swimming and Wheelchair Basketball.

For GB star Dame Tanni Grey Thompson, the games are to be a memorable event, as the 11 times Paralympic Gold medalist, is set to make her final bow at the Manchester Regional Arena on Sunday 13 May as she races in a GB vest for the last time.

The confirmed line-up of international stars competing in the athletics event includes South African double amputee Oscar Pistorius (otherwise hailed as the fastest thing on no legs), Paralympic world record holder in the 100m, 200m and 400m who will be bidding to retain his T44 sprint titles.

Great Britain’s men’s and women’s basketball teams will feature in the action at the Velodrome between 7th -10th May as they prepare for the European Club Championships later in the year.
