Keith Hill - Prosthetics and Orthotics

Keith Set For 10K

Thirty-nine year old Keith Hill from Saxilby near Lincoln, is currently in the middle of a gruelling training programme in preparation for his home town’s annual 10k race.

For dad of two, Keith, the run is a real challenge and one that he is determined to see through to the end. Keith had to undergo an above the knee amputation to his left leg following a road traffic accident he was involved in on his way home from work in 2003.

After months of rehabilitation, adjusting to life as an amputee and learning to walk on a prosthetic limb Keith decided that he would set himself a goal and entered the run.

Commenting Keith said: “I had run the race the year before I had my accident and it was challenging enough then. I think its really important to keep fit. I am really looking forward to the challenge and am hoping to finish the race, I am looking forward to crossing the finishing line.”

A Traffic Controller by day, Keith can often be seen pounding his local pavements at night. Keith also visits the team at PACE regularly and is currently working with resident physiotherapist Carolyn Hale on his running techniques.

Keith is running to raise funds for the purchase of a femurett for his local limb centre. A femurett is an adjustable training prosthesis for patients and is used during the rehabilitation process. To sponsor Keith please visit http://www.sponsorformsonline.co.uk/keithhill.asp

The Lincoln 10K is on Sunday 25th March for further information on the run please visit http://www.lincoln.gov.uk.

All at PACE would like to wish Keith the very best of luck for the run.
